Accused Harasser Inquired: 'But Imagine I Might Be Madeleine?'
A individual charged with harassing Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a phone message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has consistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial indicted with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard communication data and information retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during 2023 and 2024.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a trip in Portugal - is among the most covered child disappearance cases and continues to be open.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
Another phone message, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I feel."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "What if there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"
"I don't want money, I possess a life here in Poland, I just want to know," she added.
The jury was told that via emails, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a attempt to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a early life with the McCanns.
The investigator, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who compiled the data, informed the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.
On that date, Gerry McCann responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."
That day Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I won't give up and I will prove my claim."
The court learned the co-defendant developed a connection online with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' home in the county in December 2024.
Call logs revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the time before the appearance to Rothley, that area, in December 2024.
The court heard message exchanges between the two accused, in that autumn, planning attempting to acquire Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her bins or from cutlery at a eating establishment.
"We need to take action," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.
On the occasion of the visit to their house, Mrs Spragg dispatched a message which stated: "We find ourselves positioned adjacent to the McCanns' house with our vehicle dark resembling detectives. I wanted to accomplish this with someone else I never thought I would be doing that with the McCanns."
The case continues.
