Helicopter Spirals Uncontrollably into Palm Trees at Frequented California Shoreline
A chopper flying near a crowded southern California shoreline suddenly began spiraling uncontrollably, ultimately dropping height and crashing into a row of palm groves as beachgoers observed.
Videos posted online depict the helicopter commencing to spiral near the beach then falling towards the perimeter of the shore, where it gets stuck amidst palms and a set of stairs close to the Pacific Coast highway.
Rescue Operation Update
The Huntington Beach fire department said five individuals were transported to a medical facility including two who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” following the incident on Saturday.
Three people on the street were hurt. Details on their injuries were still under review.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
