Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
